About radKIDS-E

Creating safe, empowering learning environments where every child knows their worth and their right to be safe.

Our History

radKIDS-E was born over 25 years ago from a deep commitment to ensuring that children have the skills they need to protect themselves from all forms of victimization and abuse. radKIDS believes in equipping children with the tools they need to recognize their self-worth, set healthy personal boundaries, and respond effectively to unsafe people and situations.

Building on the nationally recognized radKIDS® Personal Empowerment and Safety Education Program, radKIDS-E adapts this research-based curriculum to align with the instructional needs and capacities of schools. By partnering with educators, mental-health professionals, and child-safety advocates, we provide a comprehensive, trauma-informed curriculum that can seamlessly integrate into classrooms while preserving the core empowerment principles for children that define radKIDS.

Our Mission & Values

At radKIDS-E, our mission is to create safe and empowering learning environments where every child is taught that they have the right to be safe and the skills to make that safety a reality. Below are our four key pillars of our values:

  • Empowerment
Teaching children they have the right and ability to say no to harm.
  • Equitable Access
Ensuring all children gain foundational safety education they can adapt to their personal circumstances.
  • Safety through Skill Development
Promoting practiced-based safety skills for real-world responses that remove fear and uncertainty.
  • Partnership
Collaborating with schools, families, and communities to create positive, lasting impact on children’s self-worth and safety.

Research & Continuous Improvement

radKIDS-E is rooted in research-backed strategies that prioritize behavioral skill development, trauma-informed practices, and student empowerment. The core curriculum draws from the well-established radKIDS® national program, which has been studied for its effectiveness in increasing children’s self-efficacy and ability to recognize, avoid, and respond to unsafe situations (Johnson-Shelton et al.).

We continue to evaluate and refine our school-aligned model through pilot programs, educator feedback, and collaboration with academic research partners. Our ongoing studies focus on student outcomes, program fidelity, and long-term impact on school safety and child well-being.
